International Civil Aviation Day
The world commemorates International Civil Aviation Day which is celebrated on 7th December every year. Since 1994 “International Civil Aviation Organization” (ICAO) was formed under UN on 4th April 1947 at Geneva. The ICAO keeps a specified theme for each five years since 1994, for the present five-year ending 2023 the theme was “Innovation in Aviation”. Gujarat has proudly bagged the Biannual Award of innovation in Aviation twice in last five year.
Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a pioneer in envisioning multifaceted development, foresaw the need to set up the Directorate of Aviation in 2003 after resuming the office of the Chief Minister of Gujrat. His foresight laid the cornerstone for Gujarat’s aviation ascendancy. Assuming the mantle of Chief Minister, Shri Narendra Modi propelled aviation to the forefront by founding the Directorate of Civil Aviation. Since then, this Directorate has remained resolute in revolutionizing aviation within the State. It was his vision as a state chief to develop infrastructure in this segment and hence Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Limited (GUJSAIL) came into existence.
Gujarat’s aviation narrative is embellished with remarkable achievements in the last two decades: As the Gujarat proudly stands at the apex of aviation excellence, a testament to visionary leadership and unwavering commitment. Under the visionary leadership of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and his stalwart team, Gujarat proudly clinched the prestigious title of ‘Best Innovative State in Aviation’ twice. This recognition echoes Gujarat’s alignment with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s standards.
